Investitionsbank Berlin fixes problems proactively with Dynatrace

Dynatrace, the “Software Intelligence Company”, helps Investitionsbank Berlin (IBB) to proactively detect and fix problems.

For this purpose, the automatic root cause analysis is part of Dynatrace’s Application Performance Monitoring (APM) solution. IBB can use it to ensure a smooth process when applying for, processing and disbursing Corona assistance programs. In addition, the insights gained can be used to reduce the time and cost of application development. As a partner of IBB, avodaq had proposed to test Dynatrace as an APM solution in the form of a proof of concept

“Within one day, thanks to Dynatrace, we were already able to identify the first problems – overloaded databases and application-specific bottlenecks of the ASP.NET application,” says Tim Becker, Senior Software Architect at Investitionsbank Berlin.

"The information obtained is now analyzed and correlated in an AI-based way and displayed on clear dynamic dashboards. Not only do they add value for IT operations and developers, but they can also show business-critical KPIs. For example, it's possible to quickly find out how many requests for Corona assistance have been made and how many of them were incorrect."

Fully automated full-stack monitoring

The Dynatrace platform offers the potential to present a complete end-to-end view of users and to track problems that occur using real-user monitoring. For this purpose, the Dynatrace OneAgent was installed at IBB on the infrastructure-critical components, taking into account the necessary security measures. This enables fully automated full-stack monitoring from the infrastructure to processes and services to the code level. In this way, end-user problems are detected directly and IBB was able to ensure a smooth process when requesting assistance programs after eliminating the causes found.

The deployed APM solution from Dynatrace has also helped IBB reduce application development time and associated costs. Through real-time synthetic monitoring, IBB is able to continuously monitor the operation of the solution. In this way, it quickly receives information on changes in application behavior, for example due to external influences or changed user behavior, as well as on the actual causes of problems. Through more reliable and better applications, IBB achieves greater customer satisfaction and appreciation.
